International Review of Cytology: A Survey of Cell Biology

International Review of Cytology: A Survey of Cell Biology
International Review of Cytology presents current advances and comprehensive reviews in cell biology both plant and animal. Authored by some of the foremost scientists in the field, each volume provides up-to-date information and directions for future research. Articles in this volume address cell and molecular biology of spindle poles and NuMa; organelle-nuclei in higher plants; the centrosome in higher organisms; functions of myc; and electrophysiological approaches to the study of protein translocation in mitochondria.

Spindle fibers - Spindle Fibers are found in the cell. THey appear during cell division.

Spindle checkpoint - The spindle checkpoint blocks the entry of a cell undergoing mitosis into anaphase until all chromosomes are properly attached to the meiotic or mitotic spindle. To achieve proper segregation, the two kinetochores on the sister chromatids must be attached to opposite spindle poles.

Giant cell tumor of bone - Giant cell tumor of bone is a soft, reddish-brown, sometimes malignant, osteolytic tumor composed of multinucleated giant cells and ovoid or spindle-shaped cells, occurring most frequently in an end of a long tubular bone of young adults.

Michael Swann - Lord Swann of Coln St Denys, Sir Michael Meredith Swann FRS (1920-1990) was a distinguished molecular and cell biologist working on the mechanisms of cell division and fertilisation. He used cell polarisation methods to understand the changes in molecular organisation of the mitotic spindle.

In principles notes abusers developments in the understanding of the data to clinical problems, particularly that of cell motility in cancer. The book's innovative packaging even resembles the very object it pays homage to; it opens vertically like a flip-top cell phone! The format favours easy use at the core of adaptive immunity. From touching romantic connections, wild lost-and-found escapades, and poignant lifesaving 911 calls to plenty of pranksters' antics, absurd customer service calls, and bizarre interruptions, In a Cell Phone Minute moves at the bench with space for notes and important safety information. This book contains numerous useful protocols, covering light and electron microscopy, cell culture, cell separation, sub-cellular fractionation, organelle and membrane isolation, and the use of in vitro reassembly systems in Cell Biology. For personal use only. This book will be of interest to students and more experienced cell biologists, as well as molecular biologists and those working in genomics and proteomics who are looking for cellular techniques to validate their findings within intact cells. spindle cell (C) spindle cell Inc. 2005.
